Written by Ashgan El-Hamus and Roelof-Jan Minneboo, AL BARANEYA stars Reem Amer. The film follows Amal, who lives with her family in the village of Al Baraneya. When they are offered money for their land, life in the village begins to shift. Pregnant, Amal finds herself torn between the life she knows and the possibility of a new one in the city. The film is produced by BALDR Film, with Seera Films and CZAR Film as co-production companies. It premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and screened at the Chicago International Film Festival.
A supernatural thriller, IN THIS DARKNESS I SEE YOU is directed and co-written by Nadim Tabet, alongside co-writers Antoine Waked and Jamal Belmahi. Tarek, a young Syrian man who has defected from the army, takes a job at a construction site in a forest near a Lebanese village. Tensions rise between the Syrian workers and the villagers, shaped by the history of Syria’s military occupation of Lebanon in the 1990s.
When strange and life-threatening events unfold inside an old building the workers are renovating, Tarek sees the apparition of a mysterious woman and begins to believe the site is haunted.
Produced by Georges Schoucair and Eli Souaiby, the film is a co-production between Abbout Productions, Clandestino Films, and Andolfi. It stars Ziad Jallad, Marilyne Naaman, Moe Lattouf, and Ziad Seaibe.
The film had its world premiere at Beyond Fest in the United States and won two awards at the Venice International Film Festival’s Final Cut program.
